My Ford XLD 1.8 engine now needs some refurbishment work. The engine has been gradually losing oil pressure over the last couple of years, so I suspect that the oil pump needs replacing, but otherwise the engine runs smoothly, doesn't burn oil, doesn't overheat, and appears to be in general good order. The engine was originally supplied by Mermaid Marine as a Meteor engine.
But I am not an engine mechanic, so does anyone know of a good marine diesel engineer who would quote for lifting the engine, sorting out the oil pump (and anything else that may be needed) then dropping the engine back into the engine bay? The boat is moored on the Coventry Canal near Fradley Junction, so anywhere within reasonable cruising distance would be acceptable. Any help or suggestions gratefully received, Les Hunt
