Hi peeps,

A heads up to say lock up your gennys and other assets. Report of
towpath genny theft in Springwell near Rickmansworth on the GU.
There was a spate of this further north up the cut between Leighton
and Marsworth within the last 6 months (some whilst the gennys were
in use and almost all of them were chained up). Be aware and please
report any incident to the police.

Minor report of towpath stoning by youths in Northolt area causing
damage to paintwork. Again any repeat please report immediately to
police as well as BW and take photos as well.

Finally we were victims of attempted theft tonight. We heard strange
noises on our mooring and Simon went out to investigate. Next I
heard was him screaming for me to call the police which I did. We
have a large number of metal planters on the mooring that have been
recycled from various other uses. Simon caught them in mid removal
and having chased them fell over (just as well) as they then turned
on him with a knife but by this time he'd clocked the blade and was
running in my direction. Blooming operator was useless, I kept on
telling him the theft was in progress and the b***stds were running
down the road but he kept on asking what seemed like daft questions
at the time.

Within 5 minutes one unmarked car and three marked cars including a
dog handler had turned up. Nothing doing except a report from a very
disgrunted upper middle class chap in an expensive saloon car
accosting the police and demanding to know what they were doing
about the pile of logs dumped in the middle of the lane a bit up the
road, after all he had to reverse nearly half a mile don't you
know .....

I don't like using the p word as it can be offensive and derogatory
and I did used to do some work with traveller families. However,
tonight after my man was threatened with a blade and my garden
trashed and my mooring invaded I don't feel so charitable.

Scenes of crime will be picking over the sorry remains of my garden
tomorrow. The bastards even destroyed Simon's copper dragon
sculpture and ripped it to bits. Local plod have promised to do the
rounds a couple of times tonight. I know it's just a matter of time
before it happens again. This is the first time anyone has
really "invaded" our mooring and I don't feel the 95% safe anymore
that I used to feel. They've all got it in for me?

Ho hum, just gives me renewed vigor for the day job and clearing the
$Hi^e out except this crew weren't water based so not my remit.
