Wed Jun 18th - 16 miles, 1 furlong, 18 locks - Wakefield to Brookfoot
Total cruising time 10 hours 10 minutes.

Slightly late start this morning at 8.10am for a steady, if
unspectacular, climb up the Calder and Hebble. It was to be an 'On and
Off' sort of day today, that is on and off with the wet weather gear.
Passed a very precariously balanced NB Pipistrelle, just below Broad Cut
Top Lock. It's half on the towpath and half overhanging the cut. I
can't remember when this area last suffered bad flooding, but it must
have been there since then. How they're going to get her back in the
cut is anyone's guess. A brief stop above Mill Bank Lock to reattach
the front fender which had snagged on the gate and broken the weak link
in one of the chains. Through Cooper Bridge Junction at 3.45 pm and on
to new territory for Arun and me. Certain amount of trouble at Ganny
Lock, where the bottom gates kept shutting, even when fully opened.
Only option was to nudge them open with the boat. Moored for the night
above Brookfoot Lock, and wandered up to the Red Rooster for a couple of
beers later in the evening.
