I don't even know what a participle is but can still enjoy the English English 
language and have a good smile when it is misused or gives a wrong impression. 
For example, our local evening paper had on it's front page yesterday the story 
or the fire brigade rescuing a girl from mud, who was 'stuck up to her waist in 
Telford'. Well I suppose she was...
