I agree Adrian it was fun and a good test coming back missing the odd tree around the corner!! . Godstow Bridge was interesting as you went through it there was a slight pull to the left probably undercurrents luckily I had plenty of leeway!! and going like a train at the time!! Bernard NB Lexa

Especially coming downstream (although, as mentioned, at least this gives you the ROW). However, when a fresh is on, it can indeed be a little tricky. Especially Godstow bridge, which is a skew for no apparent reason. Basically, when the river is running >you are committed to going through before you can see if it's clear or not! I know this bridge worries Julian too, but I don't see why. Yes, you have to turn immediately upstream, but it is over the lock cut, down which very little water flows even when the river is in spate. I had been dreading it when I came down the Thames in a flood once (I would much rather not have, but the yard had run late with the repairs, and Chertsey lock was about to close for the winter), but it proved no problem at all. Shooting Maidenhead bridge, although actually not difficult, was much more daunting. Adrian . Adrian Stott 07956-299966 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
