Saturday 26th July
We departed from Froghall and headed back up the Caldon hoping to see and
photograph the occasional passing steam trains as it was a Saturday. Sure we
heard them but every time one past us the tree screen was too thick to get a
good look or photo.
Once we had passed up through Hazelhurst locks Brenda executed a brilliant
turn into the Leek branch. Down to the end where once again, we didn't pass
through the tunnel. Jannock is the right profile for this one but too long
to wind at the end of the arm.
I must admit, Jemima D looked good in her new steel top as we passed her
mooring.
It got so hot this afternoon that Brenda demanded we pull over beneath the
shade offered along the Leek branch for a siesta. After an afternoon in the
shade the cabin temperature inside Jannock was still 27.5 degrees at supper
time. We went a walking in the evening but didn't visit the Holly Bush again
as the bar queue came right out the front door onto the towpath.
