If you want to try your own steerable street view try   http://photosynth.net/
You have to free download the program then a string of photo's rotating round 
where you are.
The program joins them up to make a continuous steerable & zoomable view.
My first two attempts are on the Sankey & the Bridgewater.

I find it worth installing to see everyone elses views throughout the world.
It would be nice to see one from the middle of the Pontywhatsits!!
