We have not broken our Jabsco DS14 after 10 years of use....but it could 
hardly be described as quiet. It is quite happy flushing on canal water. It 
has manual flush / water level so you can judge for your self if you have a 
"biggie" to dispose of.
Vetus now do a macerator bog, with a timed flush cycle.
