It is much easier/cheaper/better from a weather point of view to do Shapness to Bristol. Since Portishead Marina opened it is all rather easy. The passage will require a low water mooring at Portishead Marina and to use the tides. Book your passage and get info through: Amalgamated Gloucester Pilots 0774226143 office hours. The reason it is easier this way round it that you can hang around free at Sharpness to wait for weather (if you lock out of Bristol and wait at Portishead Marina, it can get expensive at around 30 quid a night.) Also it is not quite so tide dependant as the other way round you *really* want to arrive at Sharpness at HW, so there is not a dramatice entrance between the breakwaters. http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/tour_00/BCNplus20.html Passage Sharpness to Bristol before Portishead Marina opened. http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Tour_02/Tour02_47.html Later passage Sharpness to Bristol after Portishead Marina opened. http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Tour_94/94SevernEst.html Passage Bristol to Sharpness...now somewhat historic. -- Neil Arlidge NB Earnest - Out of it.
