Justice is 3ft and has cruised to Llangollen twice. There are difficulties, but nothing that a bit of patience allied to some good, old-fashioned horsepower can't solve.
But I find this generally with a deep-drafted boat. They said it was mad to cruise the HNC - before I did it three times. And this last week Bob Wood and I have twice cruised the southern stretch of the Walsall Canal which only has a foot of water in it (though to be fair this lies on top of a foot of rubbish which itself lies on top of a foot of oily silt.) OK we spend two hours stuck under a bridge hole, and had to get snatched free from the grip of another, but these are merely problems any self-respecting rufty-tufty boater craves to brighten up the tedious joys of cruising, so recently expounded with such eloquence by my friend and cohort in beer, Captain Beeky . Steve ps what's Adrian banging on about this time? Can someone give me a one sentence precis? I can't be bothered to read his posts. They always amount to the same thing: I'm right, you're wrong. ------Original Message------ From: Steve Wood Sender: [email protected] To: [email protected] ReplyTo: [email protected] Subject: [canals-list] Llangollen draught Sent: 2 Jun 2009 11:19 AM I'm toying with the idea of taking Bream (6'10" beam, 2'8" draught) onto the Llangollen in the next week or two. How far will I get? Nicholsons suggests the max draught on any of it is 2'3" but I've also heard that I'd probably get to Trevor. Is Llangollen itself definitely out?
