The problem as normal is the towpath shufflers being called the continous
cruisers.

I have no problem with people who continously cruise the system or stay in an
area for a time then moved on.

But the towpath shufflers do exactly like the name suggests and that is they
shuffle around the same area in most cases the same pound.

They will congregate anywhere and everywhere, be it under a bridge or a
visiters mooring.

They do not care because they are using the boats as cheap accommodation. They
have no interest in the well being of the cut, they will not want to go into a
marina for residentials because that wil cost money and most do not have any.
Remember that is why most of them are in boats, because most do not have any
money!

Yes this is a generalization but I think you will find it is very close to the
true, also a few on our cut, are trying to keep away from Officaldom.

I have spoke to Steve Haywood, and I beleive in a few years time, a lot of
boats that are on the cut will start sinking and then be left the owner will go
and buy another boat.

Why do I think above, I know of two boats that poeple have been living on, have
been taken out of the water, and they have holes or lack of service and
maintenance, once was after high pressure washing, other sunk at its mooring
leaking through the stern gear.

This I believe will happen more and more as the boats get older, as most of
them buy the cheapest and oldest boats they can afford be it a plastic cruiser
to a 50ft NB.
