Hi Roger,
You write so eloquently, I have copied some of your text and e-mailed David
Babbs (MP) {I hope you don't mind},as follows:

Dear David Babbs,
I wonder if your collegues and yourself can find the time to take action
against the proposed selling off the assets of British Waterways?
I am pasting an extract of a communication from a friend of mine who puts the
situation admirably. I cannot improve on his viewpoints.

Fabulous, fills you with confidence, the people that mishandled the Farmer's
subsidies and then incurred a huge EC fine as a result of which they slashed
many budgets including BW's. I expect that the Civil Servants involved have got
their performance bonuses though!
I'm still pursuing an FOI request on behalf of SOW that started with Defra's
refusal of my request in Jan 2007. It went to the Information Commissioner's
Office in Feb 2007 and I'm still waiting. The ICO send a 'we're still working on
it' letter every 6 months or so but, generally, only if I chase it. Miliband,
the minister at the time has had three changes of responsibility since then to
my knowledge and nearly debunked to Europe. The chances of anyone being held
accountable are zero.
Roger
There are so many people who appreciate the value of the canals >>> Walkers,
Cyclists, Fishermen, Boaters, Families enjoying the ameneties. The canals are
so valuable to so many people; being a stress relieving facility which is
mostly free.
British Waterways earn their revenue from the assets on their books. The canal
system is already beginning to fall apart with several breaches around the
system, including landslides etc., because of cutbacks.
This does deserve your Urgent Attention.
Kind regards,
