According to today's Irish budget, Waterways Ireland will get the same amount from the southern government in 2010 as in 2009 for its current expenditure (EUR26,200,000). That will be 85% of its total grant for 2010, with 15% to come from Northern Ireland. As there is price deflation here, it's done pretty well. However, its capital grant has been cut from EUR10,300,000 to EUR8,000,000. The capital grant from each jurisdiction pays for work in that jurisdiction, so fewer metres of moorings next year. bjg
