Subject: [canals-list] 4th County of the 4 counties?

We've started planing for the summers voyage and besides going up't Erewash
we're intending a datel around the 4 counties.

Easy, 1st 3 counties, Cheshire, Shropshire, and Staffordshire, and the 4th
is the West Midlands?. But Like Merseyside and Greater Manchester it's not
really a county is it?
So before they came into existance in 1974, I think was the real 4th county
Worcestershire?

I don't think any part of the "Four counties Ring" has ever been in Worcs.
My guess would be that the 4th county is indeed the West Midlands, which
would have been administratively a county at the time that these rings were
being given names (sometime in the late 70s early 80s I'd guess).
