They are how they set out the sizes of the partitions. All the room shapes etc 
are marked onto the floor. They then have to set the roof beams to match the 
floor layout. Then they get the verticals set and use string to delineate the 
edges, then they are able to measure sizes correctly so that the partitioning 
just slides into place. The partitions, the majority of which are really the 
walls of the bathroom, were already made and were being painted elsewhere while 
we were there. Some of the iroko roof beams are slotted so that the partitions, 
when dry, could be slid into place and secured.
