I have a problem starting my 4 year old Isuzu 42 (HMI) when it's hot. The
solenoid often fails to engage the pinion, or only makes a poor connection,
giving a chattering noise. The problem does not occur on a cold engine. The
engine has around 3000 hours on the clock, and is started at least once every
day (liveaboard).
I've experience with motor vehicles and am sure it's the solenoid sticking but
am unwilling to remove the unit to effect a repair without having a replacement
to hand.
My question is - does anyone out there know which equivalent Isuzu truck would
have a compatible unit? I can't do without the arm and leg I'd have to sell to
pay for one from HMI, but ebay has several different designs for Isuzu vehicles
for less than £100.
Any ideas?
