You can wind immediately above the locks or, if the towpath side is busy (narrowing the turning area) there is a big winding hole about half a mile up just beyond the Whitchurch arm. Small boats may be able to wind 3 locks up (or down) the flight but after that the next winding hole is above Wrenbury.
