There was a picture of the 1961 trip on the site I beleive two of the people in the boat were the late Dr.David Owen and the late Dr.Cyril Boucher both prominent canal campainers at that time in the Manchester area. CKP

It described the scary experience of being in the quiet of that tunnel when a steam train came through the rail tunnel. I lived in Manchester, and if someone has the date of that trip, it might be worth trawling Manchester Central Library for the Evening News or Evening Chronicle. (I could do it some time.)
