This is still present in 13.04. Problem does not occur when logged in as root. My .bashrc does not source /etc/bash_completion, but the problem persists. The fix from #10 doesn't make sense now since the file /etc/bash_completion has been changed by the developers since then. Acroread was never installed on this system and acroread.sh is not present.
