+1. DS feature should be displayed as a top level feature in the available features list in Feature Manager UI. First you need to remove it from the service-hosting group feature. And then you need to change value of the property "org.eclipse.equinox.p2.type.group" to "true" in the pom.xml of the feature org.wso2.carbon.dataservices.feature.
