We have noticed that IO becomes a bottleneck, and this can lead to failure of multiple JVMs. For example, the AS was failing very frequently when the LB and AS instance were running on the same machine. After separating it out, we were able to handle higher loads. In fact, this is how we are planning to setup Mars 1.0. Having the LB & worker node on the same instance does not work properly.
