I think the most important thing to concentrate on - regardless of the target browsers - is not to use non-standard javascript (which i have seen in care2x before). Most non-ms browsers are known only to work with 100% standard-conform javascript (i.e. opera or mozilla). If that is kept in mind opera (my fav browser/news/irc/rss/mail-client) or mozilla won't have too many problems accepting care2x.
One problem is, that 3rd party scripts like the html editor only suppurt IE (and now partly mozilla). We should find skilled javascript people to make an own html editor or use a java applet instead.
