A Care2x live DVD was made publicly available today and you may download it.

You boot from the DVD and you have a Live, fully working, fully free/open source Care2x Hospital Information System.
After that, entering the simple command "k2hd" in a root shell and choosing a few installation options, will give you (about 20 minutes later) fully configured, fully free/open source, Linux system with a fully working Care2x set up.

The DVD .ISO file is here:
http://aamorimsrv.fis.fc.ul.pt/mirrors/paipix/

There are English, German, Spanish and Portuguese versions
Please mind to choose a version that starts with PAIPIX_3.7-2005-02-24
In earlier versions there were small bugs in the Care2x setup.

Some changes were made to the Care2x Debian (Knoppix) package in order to make it work.
The new Care2x Debian package is here:
http://aamorimsrv.fis.fc.ul.pt/mirrors/paipix/PAIPIX/i386/care2x_2.1-1_all.deb

Of course, while being at the Lisbon University site please take a look at the PaiPix distro. It is here: http://aamorimsrv.fis.fc.ul.pt/
It is based in Knoppix and it is mainly dedicated to the scientific community.

What a pity to not have access to the 1 million patients demo database that seems to be running in the Care2x UK site. A few thousand of those cases would just make the live demo even more realistic...

If enough interest grows up I could rework the live DVD into a smaller, (say 400 MB) live CD.

I would like to thank Prof. Antnio Amorim from the Physics Dep. of Lisbon University for his help in the set up of the working DVD based Live Care2x.

Best regards,
J. Antas

PS - I almost forgot the Live Care2x booting instructions:
1. Boot from the DVD
2. Click the in the Penguin in the footer bar and:
3. Click services -> start Web server
4. Click services -> start MySQL server
The system asks for a new MySQL password, enter it.
5. Start the Konqueror or Mozilla browser and enter:
http://localhost/care2x
Follow the instructions (it will be easier if you choose 'root' to connect to the MySQL database)

Enjoy.
J.A.
