Hi,

Oliver is right. At the moment, there is no (approved) WMS specification that supports authentication. However, there are approaches, e.g. 52°North's OX-Framework (http://52north.org/), that extend the standard. But these extensions are (currently) proprietary and therefore require special clients. Any "normal" WMS client would not be able to handle this. By the way, this also applies to the server. If it supports authentication, it can not be a "real" WMS - at least not according to the current specification. If I might ask: Which server are you trying to query?

Regards,
Dirk

Hi
I may be wrong as this is not really my field. Maybe someone else in the list may know better.

As far as I know, password protected WMS are not standard and mostly depend of the kind of WMS server used.
So the first thing would be to know how you are supposed login to the WMS server. Then I may tell you if thats supported or not and what would be needed to make it work.

Oliver
