Where is the deployerConfigContext.xml file you're editing? Typically the maven war overlay process is used when you have your own source tree that's laid out like the cas-server-webapp tree, with files you want to override, and you'd be editing a file in your-source-tree/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/deployerConfigContext.xml. This works well and should not cause problems; is that what you're doing?
