Hello Jonathan --

Now that you have a ST in hand and you've called the serviceValidate URL (or
proxyValidate if you have proxy tickets configured) on the CAS server, you
can examine the returned XML in order to get the authenticated user. If
you're using SAML I'm not sure what these steps look like, so YMMV.

In that you're just getting started, you definately want to read as much
documentation on the Jasig CAS site as you can. It's some pretty good stuff.
When I first started digging into CAS I particularly found value in both the
v1 and v2 protocol documents as well as the proxy walk through. Just be
aware of the document dates and such. You can mistakenly come across older
documents which may not be entirely accurate now. That's been my experiences
anyways. Again, good stuff there.

HTHYO.

Peace.
