In the Authn API work I'm at the point I need to dive deep into the LDAP
authentication handlers to refit LPPE onto the new API. I'd mentioned
elsewhere [1] that I'd like to merge in ldaptive _before_ beginning that
work, but I honestly don't have the cycles to merge into the existing
head of master and then again into feature-new-authn-api. I propose to
merge ldaptive into the feature-new-authn-api branch and then continue
onward. The important consequence: two substantial features will be tied
into that branch. I'm sharing this mostly for informational purposes,
but I will reconsider if there's overwhelmingly strong opposition.
