Yes, that is a good option for online processing.  PlantUML syntax was 
motivated by websequencediagrams according to their documentation.  The 
advanatage of PlantUML for me is that it is open source, so you can use it 
locally for free.  This is useful for offline processing and also for (gasp :) 
proprietary diagrams.  They have an online version here:
