John, The logging file is in /etc/cas/config in your project directory. There are a lot of changes from 5.0.x to 5.2.x with regard to cas.properties. You are probably correct with the original config. I think Michele is correct. You specify how you want to recognize attributes and you specify how to get those attributes.
