As part of the work the CAS project is undertaking with support from NLnet [1], the final item on our task list is to focus on accessibility. This work is being facilitated through one of NLnet’s partners, who have kindly agreed to help the project conduct accessibility analysis and scans, and to report on potential issues and areas for improvement.
To get started, we are looking for volunteer organizations with publicly accessible CAS deployments that are willing to share their CAS server URL with us. A brief profile of who you are would also be useful. This will allow the partner to begin their analysis against real-world CAS deployments. If you are interested in participating, please note the following: * Contact me privately at mm1844 [at] gmail.com (or misagh.moayyed [at] apereo.org) and share the URL of your CAS deployment. Please do NOT reply to this email. We would appreciate receiving the URL before this weekend (Saturday, September 5). * We do not yet know exactly what the analysis will entail. However, you and your security infrastructure should be prepared to receive “hits & pings” from around the world. In particular, participation MAY be problematic if your deployment blocks access from specific geographic regions. * No credentials, accounts, special configuration, backdoors, or funding are required from you (or will be provided to you). For now, all we need is the publicly accessible CAS deployment URL. * Your deployment MUST be running CAS 8.0.x or later. * The results of the analysis will be shared with the CAS project, and we may share relevant findings with participating organizations as appropriate. Any applicable fixes and improvements will be contributed directly to the CAS codebase. * We expect the overall process to take approximately four weeks. Thank you.
