That is a correct statement, with emphasis on "default" CAS response. This is actually a point of some confusion in the userbase; many folks have come here trying to hack the 2.0 protocol jsps to put attributes in there not knowing SAML provides attributes out of the box. I think anything we can do to make it clear that SAML is the easiest way to get attribute release to work would be worthwhile. While not all clients support SAML, a growing number do support it.
