On the server side you have to a) populate the attributes, e.g. from a LDAP attribute repository (see https://wiki.jasig.org/display/CASUM/Attributes ) b) configure the service to serve these attributes (or a subset of them) to the client (see https://wiki.jasig.org/display/CASUM/Services+Management ) It is not necessary to use an LDAP attribute store. The person directory also provides a JDBC impl of an attribute store. When using LDAP it doesn't matter what LDAP server you use (in terms of protocol). We are using OpenDS Directory Server, but you can also use OpenLDAP, AD or anything else.
