My comments were a combination of observations by one of our sysadmins, my own 
poking around the 'net, content of READMEs, github source, and the like. Maybe 
it's operating system and/or version dependent.

Maybe Debian went their own way? Seems one of the pull requests mentioned 
Ubuntu did.

We generally use RHEL-like Linux in our deployments, and prefer to use 
'official' code bases.
