The CAS 1/2 protocol document is described here:

There's some documentation on the overall CAS architecture here:

(CAS3 functions the same way as previous versions so those documents are
relevant). I can't seem to locate our design documents for CAS 3 though (if
anyone knows where they are please send them to the list).
