David,

If you want to use Crimson as a parser then set it first in your classpath due to:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/tooldocs/win32/classpath.html (see the last section).

I don’t know Visual Age so I can’t tell you about possible issues even though I doubt it.

You could also bring only the Apache Serializer classes and build it in your VC project.

Hi thanks for the response.

Which should come first Crimson or Xerces...???

I have imported the jar file in to visual age, will this create an issue...???

Can I just bring in the Apache Serializer files in...???

Thank you.

Dave.

Hi David,

You can perfectly use another Parser such Crimson but you also need a serializer. Castor is using by default the Apache serializer distributed in the xerces jar. So if you want to use Crimson and the apache serializer, you need to build your own version of the Apache serializer or you need to put Xerces jar and Crimson jar in your classpath (in the right order).

Hope that helps,
Arnaud

Subject: [castor-dev] Error when changing XML Parser from Xerces to Crimson.

Hi.

I have just changed the XML parser from Xerces to Crimson and I receive the following error:

    Class where error occured        org.exolab.castor.xml.Marshaller

Error        Field type org.apache.xml.serialize.Serializer is missing

I noticed that in the jar file the package org\apache\xml\serialize is in xerces, but not in crimson.

thank you,

Dave.
