I think that the error is due to a Xerces version incompatibility. Just
as a test, move the xerces-J_1.4.0.jar so that it's the first jar
in the CLASSPATH. I think that Castor is finding other XML APIs
somewhere in the CLASSPATH and trying to use those which causes the
IncompatibleClassChangeError to be thrown.
