Thanks for the comeback.  I know there are four leads in the cable.  Do you konw what two colors are for the wind speed?  The company who bought Standard Horizon is going to send me a manual.  It might have a schematic in it.

I was out at my boat today putting my sails on and noticed that at least 50% of all anenometers on the masts of the boats in the marina have been broken by our last hail storm which was pretty exciting.  Looks like a replacement will be in order for a lot of boats.  I'm thinking that some of you have already done the round instruments to square instrument replacement.  Anyone have a template for the conversion to square instruments for a Cat. 27 with a wheel with instruments?

I guess we are lucky here when I think of all those beautiful boats killed by the hurricanes.  I do worry when there are tornado warnings around the lake here.  It's hard to place a insurance claim when your boat isn't even at the marina anymore.

Frank, have you tried to do any troubleshooting on  the wind speed portion?   The anemometer at the mast head is a little electrical generator.  It puts out a small AC voltage, whose frequency varies with the wind speed.    First thing to look for is this voltage on the back of the meter.  If your meter has a frequency function, you can see the frequency vary as the wind speed changes.  No voltage, then first choice from a problem is the wiring.

I think Standard Horizion has stopped supporting this line.   From a google search and the sailnet pages, Rick Kaus ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) was offering a free/cheap  WS1 about  a year and some months ago because his masthead unit had failed.  He has a C-28.
