But that I could get mine raised or
lowered for only 90 bucks. The yard charges me $135 to step the mast, plus
$65 an hour for the riggers time so I hustle a lot getting everything hooked up
so he doesn’t have to do much but raise it up and lower it. Then there’s
the $5 hazardous waste fee – I guess that’s for disposing of the
old rigging tape or maybe it’s for the cotter pins I usually drop over
the side. Because of “insurance issues” we aren’t
allowed to raise our own masts at the yard. When I had my 22 I
stepped at the town dock but they put a street light out on the dock and those
power lines are just too scary looking to try and raise a big mast there.
