Ralph -
It is possible that bowl could be warped from engine heat - though to be honest
mine has been mounted in my engine compartment for 4 years and for the past 2
years of it's life my engine pretty much overheated all the time.

It's also possible that the bowl has gotten cross threaded or check for a nick
in one of the threads - I had a raw water filter that had a chip and it started
sucking in air.

Oh Wise and Worldly,

A little problem popped up Again on my C27

The RACOR diesel filter is a spin on... 120A  model

I have been having problems with a Fuel Leak at the inspection bowl of the fuel filter.
New filters and "O" rings don't seem to solve the problem.

I know NOT to tighten too much and all that..  but no matter what I do the darned thing begins to leak within a few hours of replacing the filter. I'm convinced that the engine vibration works it loose a bit, but I can't seem to solve the problem

I've had to loosen, then tighten the filter bowl to find the ONE tiny spot that seems keep it from leaking.
Of course in the process, Fuel flies and soak up pads get full..

The Water/inspection bowl.. (Clear Amber plastic bowl) is the original Older part.
I've inspected it for cracks or nicks and it appears to be in good shape.
My thinking, at this stage, is, That the bowl is somehow WARPED and won't allow the "O" ring to seat properly.. but that sure is a Stretch for thinking..

A funny thing, Looking at the new WEST MARINE catalog's Filter pages, there is an Advisory about the ABYC saying that Racor filters mounted in an engine compartment must pass a heat test or have a HEAT SHIELD .. And..  that Racor has Replacement Metal bowls for the Plastic ones..

Now THAT makes me suspicious..

Anyone got a Comment, Hint or Solution ?
