Please, be a wet blanket. Better than a wet boat. It's taken me a while to go through all the list emails after a weekend away and then the work thing slows me down :-).
 
A little more research later, along with your note, I am going to find and install a marine grade hose for my intake before splashing in 2 weeks. I did successfully use auto heater hose for my test run on the hard, but I remained skeptical; it didn't feel as solid as the old one, even though the salesman insisted it was reinforced and as  good.  Then again, it wasn't his boat.
 
Peace of mind is a good thing.

It should certainly be a reinforced hose, but it should also be marine grade. If a USCG boarding party could see a marine use approval marking on the hose they would see that as a violation. Ok what are the odds of that now that they are in Homeland Security but still there was a reason for them to check this.
 
I believe if you ask Napa Auto Parts for a marine grade hose will get some in for you if they don’t stock it. It’s fine to shop wisely but this is one of those items that can sink a boat, so be safe about it.
