In my  1978 C27 # 3692 I have 3 or 4 inch hose ( like for a clothes dryer
vent )  attached to the in and out vents  at
the port and starboard corners of the stern to ventilate the engine cave.
Also has a blower connected, The hoses lay
on the hull floor. I have the ends secured to stay away from the prop shaft.
Hose from forward facing vent should enter high into the engine compartment. Hose from vent facing aft should pass thru the blower and be at low point of engine compartment. Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air, so it collects at low parts of the engine compartment. Circulation should be into the forward facing vent, down thru the compartment and out the aft facing vent.
