Doug, I dunno what your budget and daysailing tastes are like, but I can tell ya that Getaway is pretty urban when it comes to the scenery (I kept a boat there for 5 years). It is a great location if you want shopping and restaurants and there are places to eat literally just around the corner (like Bo Brooks, a once proud crab house that is now pretty much more of a tourist
haunt, unfortunately...but it's okay).

Back when we actually had discretionary income, we were thinking of chartering out of Annapolis via Sunsail. I've never been found of their website but you can get a price eventually if plug away at it or call their 1-800 number (sorry Toybox!)

Annapolis on a week day is tolerable and a lot more scenic than Balto (unless you prefer an industrial, working harbor/waterfront in which case it IS pretty neat). From Getaway it's a good 1.5 hours to the mouth of the Patapsco to the actual Bay. Kind of a neat ride down passing Ft Carroll (Robt E Lee's first commision after W.Pt was there)
and under the F. Scott Key Bridge, etc.

however if it were left up to me, I'd try to charter out of someplace farther south like Solomons Island...a better taste for the Bay, fewer powerboats (a few jet fly-overs
from Pax Naval Air, but no biggie). This place sounds pretty low-key:

send me a note off list if you get desparate...my schedule sox in August, but
anything is possible.

I'll be in DC for a week in August on vacation. Anyone know a good outfit that can rent a family cruiser type sailboat to us on the bay for like a day sailing trip? Suggestions appreciated.
