I have the same issue. Mine is a '73 I bought about a month ago --
On a Whim -- I like the boat, but I'm learning about it. The
broker told me to engage reverse slowly and it will catch. That works, but
it doesn't seem correct.

transmission fluid
I have
the Atomic 4 with the standard in-line (??) transmission. I've noticed lately
that when I engage reverse, it takes a few seconds (10 to 20) to actually
start turning the prop in reverse - you can tell by that whirring noise that
it makes. What would be causing this?

fluid
It's time to drain and replace the transmission fluid in my Universal
M-18. I've never done this before. Does anyone know approximately how much
fluid it will take? I'm assuming I'll have to access the drain plug by
crawling into the port lazarette. Any words of advice on this job?
Thanks.
