Sorry for not replying, but I just spent a week and a half sailing almost every
day. Just got back yesterday. Gauge does nothing but set on E, However, I spoke
with someone at West Marine and he told me to disconnect the lead from the
center of the sending unit at the tank and touch it to ground. If the gauge
pegs full, the sending unit is bad and not the gauge itself. I tried this and
it pegs to full. Looks like it may be the sending unit.

Ted, when you turn the key on, what does the gauge do?

I have an 82 with a 5411 diesel.?The fuel gauge does not work. Does anyone have
any experience with trouble shooting the problem? It could be the sending unit
in the tank or the gauge itself. All connections seem to be tight and clean.
