Hi Ralph,
I'm not sure about WHAM over RAM. I have a RAM from days when WHAM was not an option. I would however be cautious about allowing any feature take priority over DSC integration. I want a couple of things in DSC integration: 1) I want my current location auto loaded from my GPS to my DSC VHF in case someone onboard needs to send a DSC distress call. 2) I want the location of any received DSC Distress calls automatically plotted on my GPS. 3) I want the GPS to be capable of steering the Autohelm to the vessel in distress. 4) Once the route is established I want the GPS to calculate my ETA. Actually this is what I have. You can also set the GPS Chart plotter to read the charted depths in front of the boat and sound a shallow heading alarm well before you get a shallow alarm by depth meter. I'm in debt to all of you who responded.. It looks like first generation WHAM mic models had some problems. It also appears that the new gen has improved. But as always, Here's the bad news.. Apparently the Next gereration of WHAM will Not be compatable with this years VHF trannys. So it looks like a search for a few "Left Over" models is going to be necessary. The good news is that they MAY be purchased for a good Mark Down price.. LOL Thanks again for your help and advise.. Tell your boss you get Raises this month ! UW Ralph Ahseln Oblio Gresham OR
