According to the manual, "...fill the gear box with the prescribed oil up
to the top mark on the dipstick". It also states, "When checking the oil
level, dipstick to be inserted only - do not screw in". And then tighten
the
dipstick after checking the level. Hope this helps.

I bought a 1982 cat27. I am trying to check the fluid level of the
transmission. I have a Universal 11 hp inboard desiel.
The dip stick is a bolt on top of the trans. When I unscrew it ,the dip stick
is about 3inches long. The only mark is a cut on the stick about one half
inch from the bottom of the stick.
There is so little space I think this is the add fluid notch, but where is
the full mark? Can anyone help with my problem? Thank you.

You've put an immense amount of work and thought into/ Bijou. /We've
all gained a great deal from you. The Association just won't be the
same without your wisdom and input. We hope that you can stay
connected. Do you think you might just put a cover on /Bijou/ and wait
for the day when the lad is older and ready to take on some
responsibility? .

Regardless, the best of wishes to you.
