Even then he should do the gloved hand with tissue paper wipe down inspection. Any fractured strands will snag the tissue paper giving an indication of a serious problem. Any broken strand will skew him like a fish if he's not wearing protective gloves. At the same time we should talk about the suitability of a C22 for the waters he intends to sail. A older C22, like the C27, was never CE rated but it would be reasonable to think that it is no better than the newer improved version C22 which is CE category D.
