Ashton,

I learned to sail out of Santa Cruz (well there were the sun fish on some
mountains lakes 10 years prior) and the Santa Cruz Rig, as we all called it, is
exactly what you want to duck a bridge.

I build my mast raising system as a mirror image Santa Cruz Rig in a couple of
hours on the dock in Richmond (Wing Tip came with a tabernacle), lowered the
mast, and motored to yard to be hoisted on to a new trailer.

If we had You Tube back then I'd show some SC inner and outer harbor action.
The boats never slow down the mast just lowers like they are jousting, they
duck the bridge, and it starts coming back up. About mid way down the outer
harbor the mast is back up. By the time they make the turn at the breakwater
the sails are set.

drop the mast to get under the Riva bridge. The current mast step is just
screwed into the cabin roof.

make sure it is anchored securely. Any thoughts?
