I cruise in a fresh water lake, and still use water from the fresh water tank.
If your C27 is plumbed like mine, the sink drain Ts into the head inlet. I rarely open the head through hull. Do your job, wash hands in sink, fill the sink until about 1/3 to 1/2 full, then flush. And, another good way to meter the amount of extra liquid that goes into the holding tank.
