It is plastic with twin slots. I saw the same thing in one of the catalogs but carbon foil or something. It has a pre-feeder so the luff rope will feed into it fairly easily. I bought the boat from a fella (for nearly nothing) who didn't seem to know much about anything on the boat who bought it from a serious racer in the Atlanta area. That being the case I can't ask the person I bought it from.
